2002 3.0L ranger misfire

Hi I have a 2002 ranger auto with a 3.0L, I recently went north for a few weeks truck sat. Came back started truck up and it had a really rough idle allmost as if there was water in fuel treated it, no help. hooked it up to computer got a cylinder 4 misfire cleared the code. checked coil pack and found a crack. on my way to buy a new one the truck started to run really really bad felt as if it lost a cylinder hooked it back up to computer and found that cylinder 3 misfired this time. replaced coil pack and same thing. The truck does not do it all the time once warm does not do it until I shut it off for about 5-10min and start it back up it runs really rough. any information would be greatly appreciated thanks. and oh yeah replaced the plugs,wires, cleaned maf sensor, and replaced fuel filter about a month ago.

The truck was running fine 2 weeks prior, than once it sat for them two weeks it started doing it when I started the truck back up. To me a cracked head would have been doing it prior to those to weeks, also if it were a cracked head wouldnt I be seeing some coolant in the oil, and would a cracked head cause a misfire on cylinder 4 the first time and 3 the second time, it doent seem like a craked head could be the problem maybe im wrong. Also when I pulled each wire off of the ignition coil seperate the spark I seen seem to be orange instead of Blue.

Coolant can exit your engine through the exhaust too.
If You are not loosing coolant that does not means you don't have a bad head. Bad valves also have the same simptom. But You should also check for a bad CMP or CKP or even a disconected fuel injector for this will also trigger a missfire but also trigger other codes.

Allright, I just replaced the spark plugs once again found a bad plug but no help there either. took the truck down the road and it has started to miss around 3000 rpm's but if you power through it it's fine. Any suggestion on what to try next. I have replaced the wires, plugs, ignition coil, and fuel filter. I have gotten the codes of a misfire on cylinder 4 the first time then a couple days latter a cylinder 3 misfire. Im out of ideas!!!!!!!!!!

Allright, as of today I seem to have gotten the misfire's to stop so far, a new code has showed up on the scanner a P1000 code, if im not mistaken it's an emissions code but could this cause the problems that I have been haveing.

Simply means you haven't run it enough since the codes were cleared, and no codes are present.

This code bites people with Emissions testing stations. Drive it for a while and check it again.
