have a 2001 Ford Ranger 4.0L. The last few months I have had my check enegine light on and it was throwing the codes p0174 and p0171 Bank 1 and 2 are running lean.

I have been doing troublesoting over the last little while I changed the pvc valve, spark plug wires, spark plugs, fuel filter and most recently the mass airflow sensor. After I changed the sensor the light stayed off for a little while then turned back on this time with a totally diffrent code p0113.

Why would this be doing this after I changed the sensor is it not calibrated properly or have I solved one problem and created another?

Could someone please give me a little insight in to what could possibly be going on (I'm still learning how the sensor's work with each other)

Thanks!

Sounds like the IAT is bad.
I don't know if 01 has the IAT built into the MAF or not.

If it does, the new MAF has a bad IAT circuit or the connector could be loose.

If your year has an IAT, replace it.

Lean codes usually means a vacuum leak, either in the PCV tubing/elbow or the Intake Gaskets.

It is a good idea to let the computer relearn after replacing a sensor. Disconnect the battery, turn on the headlights, then off, reconnect the battery. Start it, let it idle 5 min, then 5 min with AC on, then 5 min in D and then D with AC, then drive.

Welcome to The Ranger Station, and use the search function and Tech Library.

I'm going to try and reset my computer again hopefully that works. I had to drive it last night to take my core sensor back and it seems like it dosn't want to idle it jumps between 600 rpm and 900 rpm then it will try and lurch when the brake is applied. I still only have just the one code that I mentioned before.
