2000 ford ranger with a 2000 explorer 5.0 swap need help gears

im doing a 5.0 swap in my truck and going to swap the 8.8 in the rear end also it has 3.55 gears and the ranger had 3.73 gears in the rear axel
what gears should i run in the truck i have a lift and 31s
i need help quick thanks

What transmission you looking to use? Do allot of highway driving?

I have a carbed 5.0 HO with an np435 trans turning 32s with 3.73 and in 4th gear (1:1 ratio coming out the trans) I'm turning 3k rpm doing 55-60mph and that consumes alot of fuel.

I'm going to be going with 3.08 gears soon since my transmissions first two gears are low gear, im able to drive around in third from 20mph to 55mph.

If going manual, the m5od-2 from an f150 with the 4.2 is a popular trans since it has OD. If going auto then the AOD is another good choice because of having OD.

Your 3.73's are fine. I'm running 4.10s with 275/55/20 (32") and im getting ready to swap to 3.73 for better highway cruising, I'd love 3.55s, but I don't have two sets (ifs35 & 8.8). With my 4R70W trans, I'm turning 2k rpm @ 60, getting about 17 mpg, but I drive it pretty hard and my drivetrain's got right at 200k...

Having an OD transmission pays a big roll plus in how you drive too.

Best advice, run what you have and go from there.
