I've decided it's time I start a build thread. I've owned this truck for about 8 months now. I've done alot of work to it already and have alot of plans for the future.

The day I bought it.

And of course because I can't leave anything alone: I tore the bed off after having owned it for only 3 days.

painted the frame.

Fixing a couple bad bed crossmembers.

I painted the whole underside of the bed. The underside of the cab. all the frame and everything else I could reach with POR15 paint. That stuff works really well.

Bed after a repaint.

I was just goin to call it quits with that but my new paint looked alot nicer than the 12 year old original paint so:

I fixed the few dings and got the cab ready to paint.

I found a great deal on a like new 05-07 front bumper, grille and foglights on craigslist. The guy only had them on his truck for 6 months. All mint OEM stuff $200!!!

Fresh paint on the top of the bumper.

Grille and headlights installed. I also bought billet inserts for the grille.

New cowl hood.

Side shot of the hood. I also swapped out the front wheels for a set that the clear coat was still in nice shape.

Front leveling kit. I hated how it sat so low up front. I got tired of people asking me if it was 4x4.

Nice.. what's the other plans?
Micro oil filter? Tuner? Exhaust? Radio? come on... more!

The next big step was I wanted some runnning boards for it. I wanted something that wouldn't rust or fade. It had to look good and most of all they had to protect the body from stone chips and protect the rockers from the wonderful PA winters. I ordered a set of DEE ZEE elite boards to only findout that they are no longer made for a crew cab Ford. My next option was Putco but they were on back order and cost almost $1900!!! So I decided that would never spend that much on a set of running boards so I decided to make my own. I had stainless peices cut and bent to my measurements.

First one all welded and ground smooth.

2012-09-12182557_zpsa50ade5e.jpg

Now its time for the fun part. Polishing them.

2012-09-20183959_zps8e4a54e5.jpg

Once finished I made some brackets for them to mount to the frame. I also added some grip tape so I don't fall when I step on them.

All finished and installed. After everything was done I have about $850 in the my running boards. I know that they are better built that any that you would buy and I was a fun project.

Also switched out my flat black textured door handles for smooth painted and upgraded the mirrors to smooth painted with turn singals.

As far as go fast goodies. I already have a full 4'' exhaust, ram air intake, wicked wheel in the turbo. It has a 6 position chip, complete regualted fuel return system, all the gauges, southbend clutch, silicone intercooler boots, SWAMPS high voltage IDM, and Airdog 2 fuel pump.

I have alot more planned as far as go horsepower parts go.

I want to build a reliable 500hp with this truck.

Future plans:

Stage 3 hybrid injectors
38R turbo
aftermarket hpop
Gearvendors overdrive unit
headstuds
bigger valve springs
gooseneck hitch
rear air bags
19.5 wheels and tires
better sound system and sound deadener for the interior

plus whatever else comes along.

My newest project for the dually.
I'm swapping out my NP273 (electric shift) for this NP271 (manual shift)
Theres nothign wrong with my tcase but I had this one in the garage and prefer the manual plus I'm planning to do the GV swap one time.

Its all ready to go in. I just have to figure out what to do about a rear driveshaft and get everything ready then I can just pull one out and bolt everythign new up. Even if I don't get it all wired up I can atleast drive the truck again.

That is a sharp looking truck. What do you have to add to control the overdrive unit? Another stick?

I'll have to flip a switch to arm it so I don't accidently bump it on while driving. There will be a switch on my shifter just like a semi.
