I am rebuilding my 2000 M50DR1 with a 3.0 V6. I found a complete mainshaft with gears on CL really cheap. There were some differences in the mainshaft journal sizes but since all the gears and syncros were in great shape I used them along with a new input shaft and bearings. It is a 3.0 mainshaft and all gear tooth counts are the same as my old ones but it has the 3 piece 2nd syncro ring. Everything turns smoothly but now the original 1/2 shift fork will not go over the new 1/2 syncro. The new syncro assembly groove is a little larger in diameter than the original. The 3/4 syncro is identical to my old one but the 1/2 is slightly different. I didn't notice before but the 1 and 2 gears have 45 syncro teeth and the old ones have 42 so I know they are different. Apparently these changed in 2001 and I am assuming I have a 2001-up mainshaft and gears. So it seems that there should be a different 1/2 shift fork with a larger diameter to fit over the syncro. I have been scouring the web trying to find anything that might help me figure this out. Is there a good Ford website that will show dimensions and notes for certain parts and not just part numbers?
