I need an accelerator linkage splash shield (plastic) that covers the accelerator linkage cables for the 2.9L V6 engine. I think the part number is E67A-9F766. It sit on the top of the engine a bit to the right of the intake manifold.

The local junk yards do not have any or they are broken. Anyone know where I can pick up a nice one for my 1990 Ranger?

Thanks!

I have seen that part referred to as a "snow shield". I thought it was in the owners manual but couldn't find a mention. I also looked in my factory service manual, but not there either. I believe it is to prevent snow from coming thru the grille and fouling the throttle. I have seen many 2.9s where this is missing. I doubt it would matter except in extreme conditions. Of course, if the engineers didn't think it was necessary Ford wouldn't have spent money to make it! I didn't find one in the LMC catalog. If you want one, you will have to keep looking.

If you have a part number, give Ford a try since all their parts computers are interconnected. You never know, some dealer could still has one on a shelf someplace.

I always thought the idea was to prevent anything from getting in and holding the throttle open...

My 08 didn't have one when I got it. Talked to Ford and they said it was a safety item so to bring it back and they would put one on it.

I believe the linkage shield is the same on 86-92 Ranger 2.9's, so be sure to include those years when your searching around.

Oh and I have an extra one. PM me if your interested.
