I have a 1990 BII 2wd and am in the process of pulling the engine. I was wondering if any knows if I have to remove the tranny first or if there is room to remove both at once.
Thanks

If it is a genuine 2wd trans, sans dummy case and you remove the fan and radiator I believe you can slip it out as an assembly.

i have done it a few times as one unit. kind of a head ace. can be done. i find it easier to take out both the trans, engine, "dummy" t-case all as separate units.

Agreed. The easiest way I have found so far, especially with a transfer case of any kind, is to split the engine and trans, take the tranny down, and pull the engine out on it's own.

Thanks guys. I'm going to take your advice and pull them separately..
