I dont know too much about trucks im trying to learn cause i just bought my first one today. My ranger has very very slow pick up and sometimes feels like the engine is only revving but not gaining any speed while in drive...i have no idea what the problem is its also very loud i know i need to replace the entire exhaust but i am wondering why it feels so weak when accelerating...it doesnt seem to speed up at all only rev.

Check your transmission fluid. If it's low, your transmission will slip letting the RPMs go up without increasing your speed (like a slipping clutch). It wouldn't be a bad idea to change the filter and fluid in it either if you don't know when this has been done last.

i will definitely try that as soon as possible and get back to you with my results i appreciate it very much

I have a 93 with a five speed. With that it has just about the power to get out of its way. With the auto it must be a slug. Do not get me wrong I love the truck but a 2.3 is what it is a little work horse but not a lot of umph.
