I'm wanting to do a standalone fuel management system on a 2.3 turbo engine in one of my non-Rangers('78 Pinto). Is there a cam position sensor/oil pump drive that work in my engine?

I've given a lot of thought in the past to the 2.3 turbo engine and what I decided is that sticking with factory engineered parts is best.

What I did not say is using factory parts that were originally engineered for the 2,3 turbo...

To be more specific what I was planning to do with mine was to use the stock engine management with one exception... The ignition system.

Keep the four plug head the Vane air meter and the stock injectors

The "Weak link" is the original TFI ignition.

If you really understand Ford EEC-4 engine management you know that there really isn;y a whole lot of difference (theoretically) between the EDIS system and the TFI, but I don't like the 8-plug "DPIS" that much more than TFI

What ignition system am I suggesting?

Replace the crank pulley and drill the block to use the pickup from a 1990-94 Dual plug 2.3 engine, but use the Single coil pack and ignition amplifier from a 1991-96 Ford Escort.

EDIS-4, IT would be like running 2/3 of a 4.0 Explorer ignition system.

Simple Stupid and it would probably work (which means that it isn't all that stupid)

But other than stretching the necissary wiring it's "factory engineered".

Thanks for the information. I think I have the crank trigger parts laying around, I'll have to dig them out. Now I'll have to search the local boneyards and try to find the Escort parts.
