2.3 to 4.0 sohc or 4.0ohv

so my 2.3 is running shittyand i wanna do a little of this, so what should i go with to be the most simple bolt/plug&play way to go?
4.0sohc or ohv?

OHV 4.0 out of a 91-94 Explorer would by far be the easiest. Look in the tech library, there are at least 2 articles in there and plenty of stuff on these forums.
