2.3 No. 1 injector dumping fuel HELP!!!

I have a 95 Ranger with a 2.3 4 banger and OBD2 EECV computer. When I was warming it up a couple weeks ago, it suddenly started missing (after about a minute of idling). I pulled the plugs and found lots of fuel in the No. 1 Cyl., found that there was a solid lit noid light when I checked the injection harness. Also checked the harness for bad ground, open or short circuit, etc. and found no problems between the injector and the eec wiring. Could this be a bad EEC? What sensor triggers the fuel injector to open and close? I really appreciate ANY help! Thanks in advance...Gerald

The CMP or cam synchro sensor sets the injector timing.

PCM only controls GROUND to the injector circuit, power is always present at the injector plug.

I'd suspect a short to ground on that injector's wire to the PCM.

You seem to already know all that.

Is it possible that you didn't check that injector"s wire to the PCM for a short to ground?

Looks like it should be the Tan wire in Pin 75.
Pull that pin out and see if the noid stays lit. If so, it's shorted to ground.

Thank you, I did check the wire for a ground short, but I did it with an ohm meter with both ends disconnected from the ecc and the injector

also, do you know where the cam sensor is located? I kinda quickly looked for it but had no luck
