Hey all i have a question. I have a 91 ranger with the upper alt mount. I was wondering if i can use the 92-94 passenger side alt mount and run both. Reason being im cheap so instead of buying a high output single id rather run 2 oem alts to power a system i will be installing.

Btw what alt swaps fit my stock 2.3 driver side mount alt?

Any help is greatly appreciated. The junk yard will be half off tomorrow so i plan on going and buying the mount.

I would also be curious if this was possible. Will you post your findings when you get the bracket?

I just got the bracket a while back along with the 130 amp ypgrade and it bolt right up. This being said i have the crank pulley that has 2 circles.

I have pictures i will try to post them in a bit

I have not wired it or run a belt

Stock alt on the right

93 bracket on left it comes with an idler pulley on it looks like yhe belts line up just great

Never heard of this before that I can recall, but apparently it is used on many vehicles...two or even three alternators in parallel...

I've seen plenty of dual battery setups...but this is interesting too...

I used a big rigs alternator on my 2.3. 180 amp unit. It would slow the engine down at idle if I had a good load on the electrical system

I've seen Ford full size E-series vans in a local junkyard with dual alternators but can't remember what size engines they had.

Finally got it all wired and connected with a belt. I just spliced the connectors to the original alternator and it works lile a charm. Only thing is the battery light comes on every now and then but it don't affect anything my voltage is GREAT never dips even with both my amps and lights on great mod for anybody who has been thinking about 2 alts

Great!! Do you have pics and wiring diagrams by any chance?

I no longer have my 2.3 Ranger but I'm interested and I'm positive others would be too...

Nah bro sorry no pictures or the wiring diagram but I juwt googled it up myself I just had to splice 2 wires to the new alt. Sorry for the inconvenience but it's not hard to look up bro.

Not a problem...not actually for my personal use but someone else might search on it, find your thread read it to see if it holds any useful information...then they will ask the same question or post on this thread in five years time...lol

No worries...thanks anyway...I might post something on it later if I happen to find anything...
