Hi all, (if in wrong area please move)

Friend of mine is thinking about how to place a 2.2L kabota diesel into a ranger. He has figured out everything except how to make the trans shift with using lower RPMs with a auto 4 speed.

His question(s) are

1. has anyone did this and if so what torque converter worked.
2. the trans switches at what rpm? for the gears?
3. Any websites or pages in here with this same thing already done?

thanks

Can't tell you any thing about the transmission, but I can say for sure that a tractor engine into a Ranger has been done before. Used to be a little "conversion" shop in the next city over that did tractor engines into anything that you wanted and I know that they did a few Rangers.

If anyonehere has done it, the thread would most likely be in the ""other" engine conversions" forum down in the engines section. If your friend decides to go ahead with it, good luck with the swap and let us know how it goes.

Might help you some I don't know.

I know some of the offbreed tractors... the best thing about them is the crate engine they put in them. We went thru a POS Montana tractor trans and it had a really nice 4cyl Mitsubishi in it.

For the record if you actually work a tractor they will hammer down 10gal+ per hour without blinking. You will never work a truck that hard (nothing about a pickup would take the load) but it is funny when he says how good of mileage a tractor gets vs a car in his videos.
