hi guys,
im going to the swap of 3rd gen front susppension and brakes in a 1st gen ranger.
i read a lot above it on this forum, but i cant find if the manual brake pedal its different of the boosted brake pedal.
i think yes, just because the master cylinder on de manual brakes take the 2 top holes on the firewall and the brake booster use the 4 holes and the link is in the center of those 4 holes. if i cant find a boosted brake pedal can you give me an idea of what i must to do?
i was thinkin on cut the pin on the pedal and weld it a few decimals down just to match whit the center of the 4 bolts, what you think?
 
If you will be using a 1st gen brake pedal, then yes they are different. The MC mounts to the pedal in a different spot (boosted vs. non-boosted). When I put a 5-speed in replacement of my auto trans, I had to modify the pedal assembly from a 5-speed ranger (which had a boosted brake) because there was no way I was gonna find a manual brake pedal out of a manual trans ranger. You can move the pin as mentioned. I just ground the weld off the back, drilled a new hole and welded it up. Worked like a charm.

i see like the pin is welded on the back, so if i cut the weld whit a grinder the pin comes out? mmmm i see.....
 
Last sunday i went to my local yunkyard, i found a 1989 ranger 2.3l manual. And find boosted brake pedal.

hope the image upload con high resolution, this is not a simple bolt on swap. The 4 holes on the firewall are to close to get the 4 pins on the booster. So you ll need a half inch bit to redrill the holes to h. NH máster cilinder have diferent brake liü6nes so youll need to change it too. After my diferential 8.8 swap. I get rear disk brakes. And i notice they give me arround 50% more brake poder w\o booster, then i swap the booster and im very happy.
