1999 Ford Ranger 4.0 OHV Help Please

I replaced the head n intake gaskets now the motor quits when I plug in the MAF Sensor. I've checked everything and all looks good. I ran a smoke test today and seen smoke coming from 2 places. Not sure what the parts are called but I added a link to a pic of the 2 parts. Does anyone have any idea what I should look for. MAF plugged in it runs very bad and won't idle, MAF unplugged will run and drive but has a little miss. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Top one is iac; idle air control. Other one i dont know.
 
Lower one is the EGR vacuum solenoid.
 
would a bad EGR vacuum solenoid or a idle air control make the truck run like it does?
 
Both could cause crappy idle. Neither should be effected by the MAF.
 
Thanks adsm08, if the Intake was leaking would that cause the MAF to do that?
 
Try tapping on the maf with the handle end of a screw driver while its plugged in. If the engine changes in idle or runs better it is usually bad. The best thing to do is hook it up to a scanner and read live data.You could have another faulty sensor casuing it. When you unplug the maf sensor the computer goes into limp mode and it will run better but not perfect. Check your coolant temp sensor and wiring. If the senor is bad it will tell the computer the engine is cold when its hot and the result is dump more fuel and causes flooding. Also a vacuum leak could cause a lot of problems.
 
ok I'll check that today. The only code I get is the MAF. P0102 FORD Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input.
 
I'm not an expert on 4.0 motors, but your code makes sense given the vacuum leaks. The maf is controlling fuel delivery by metering air coming into the motor. If you have vacuum leaks and the motor is pulling in unmetered air, the maf is going to give the pcm a flow number that is too low and the pcm is going to cut fuel to the motor. Was there an issue with the maf before? My bet would be the vacuum leaks are to blame.
