my GEM MODLE is bad.. seems I cant find a replacement I can afford right now.
Mine is F87B-14B205-EE
I can find several xl5t-14b205-EE
I read somewhere the last 2 numbers are the ones that must match, so anyone know if the XL5T will replace my F87B ????
Can anyone read the numbers o show what they mean ???

F87B = 1998 Ranger

xl5t = 1999 Mazda B-series

14B205 = GEM part number, for all models all years, just Fords generic part number for this unit

EE = firmware and software version, indeed the one to match.

I would say yes, it would work
In 1998 to 2000 Rangers and Mazda B-series with 4 wheel ABS had ABS module adjust speedometer for axle ratio and tire size.
If you only have rear wheel ABS then GEM was programmed for that conversion, but you could get lucky :)
If speedo is off then Ford can reprogram this replacement module for correct axle/tire size, not sure on that price, you would have to check locally

update

I got the XL5T in today, gave 70.00 shipped, but a no-go, wont work.
in my driveway, the o/d light begins flashing and speedometer floats around 100mph , lol and truck barely moving. also just stubbed up and died couple times, restarted easy.
so looks like I need the original for plug n play, cant find one.
