1997 Ranger 4wd Problems

Hi All,

Haven't been here in a while but need your help with a problem.

1997 Ranger XLT 4.0 5 speed 4wd with Warn manual hubs 128K miles.

Locked in the hubs and switched in to 4 High. No problems previously doing this especially since the Warn hubs ere installed many year ago.

OK, so driving down the road and the dashboard selector light flash 4 High and 4 Low at the same time then stopped flashing and both extinguished. Tried switching back to 2wd with the selector switch. Not working.

I can unlock the hubs and get back in to 2wd, but the selector function seems to be whacked.

Anyone seen this before? Any help would be appreciated.

The electronic switches or the shift motor is hosed up. Maybe just a loose connection. This time of year , I run around in 4 wheel High with the hubs unlocked. That way I have 4 wd when I need it.

Thanks for the replies Gents. The problem seems to have resolved itself without any intervention. Software glitch,.....who knows?
