So I bought this truck and the 4wd motor was not shifting so I bought a new one, while I am driving down the road my in 2H, the 4L and 4H flash and if I stop and shit it into 4L it will work, my 4L works perfectly with no problems but. I have NO 4H at all, I can’t find a form with these problems so I thought I’d give this a try. Also My abs light is on because my brake fluid level sensor plug got broke and I’m also like to know how to bypass that while I’m at it
It is a nob to switch it between 2H 4H and 4L

Think if you complete the loop by tying the wires that went to fluid level sensor it will go off. Sure it’s not stuck in 4high If push button. Think they have to go to high first. Then low. My understanding is it will not go to low, unless it goes to High first. So possibly stuck in High four instead of 2 Wheel Dr.

Also. Do you know what range it was in when you removed the motor. May not have been in correct position

Several diagnostics in the Tech Library...

are you sure the front is engaged when in 4low?

low and 4wd are 2 different functions inside the transfer case.
for 4H the only function is the front driveshaft is engaged.
for 4L both the front driveshaft is engaged and the gear reduction is activated.

in 4L if the front driveshaft fails to engage you can still get the gear reduction.

when the shifting motor turns it does not actually engage anything. it pushes on 2 separate springs, one for low range, the other for the front driveshaft.
these springs push both collars to engage L or 4H, if one of the mechanisms is jammed/broken the other can still work.

it is not engaging into 4wd all in the snow I’m drifting like it’s 2wd and I have had a buddy look at it, 4 low works perfectly just no 4H.

Does yours need to reverse direction 10 feet to lock back in ?
