1996 Ranger XLT extended cab 3.0L V6 airbag light code 24

I'm getting code 24 on the dash for my air bag.

The code means that the airbag brain has an internal fault based on what I can find in the internet. The truck has very low miles and it surprises me that it is actually bad. I've looked for connectors under the seats to check and only see one under the drivers seat. I've disconnected that one cleaned it out with electric cleaner spray put some WD40 on it and plugged it back together. I don't see any other connections under either seat. The brain is under the plastic kick panel on the passenger side on my truck.

Any ideas how I can trouble shoot this and get it fixed?

A lot of people say the fault can be due to corroded connections but I just don't find many to check. My brother-in-law borrowed my truck and left the back window open about a month ago and it rained and stormed hard all night. The area behind the seats got soaked and the seats were even wet. So it would make sense that my airbag code started up a little while after that due to a corroded connector. So, I suspect a connection somewhere is corroded but I just don't see any to tear into except the one I mentioned.

Has the back window been open for a month? I would work on getting the interior dried up using fans and or a dehumidifier. Once dry get pulling connectors under the seat and make sure they are clean. Disconnect the battery while you are doing this to reset the computer. Give that a shot.

No, the window was open for one night a month ago. The truck has long since dried out. I think you missed the point of my question. My plan is to do exactly what you say but I don't see any connectors under the seats - I only found one. Airbag circuit connects are usually yellow. The ONE connection I found was black. I know there have to be some other connections but I don't see them - can you tell me where to look for them? Are they under the carpet?

Can anyone help me with this? I looked again today and find no wires under either of the seats. Its been about a month since I posted the question and the one response I got told me to do what I already planned to do if I could find any of the wiring (can't find much - one connector under the drivers seat). I would like to fix it and seriously someone has to know more about it than I do..
