my 94 ranger 2.3l snapped a belt ....
while doing some homework on timing mark, i wana shoot my pc...

some say cam and aux need to line up with each other others say aux is at around 12 oclock and cam is almost pointing to aux .....
both way had diagrams .... arggghhhhh....

i dont see a diamond above the aux anywhere...
and only see a triangle on inside edges of cogs( gears)

what do i believe :annoyed::shok:

There's marks on the truck where the timing belt should go. If you look in a manual it's pretty easy to line it up. At least on my 93 it's easy to do it. You gotta get the sprokits lined up like they're pointing an arrow up.

don't worry about the auxiliary shaft on a '92, it only drives the oil pump

If you snapped the belt, make sure the crank sensor isn't damaged or it won't run...

EDIT: a '94 can have a cam sensor, better off safe and aligning the aux shaft

it doesnt have a cam sensor just crank ... that i see ..... that one seems to be ok...
noticed only one peep hole on timing cover ( if that helps)
should triangles on gears face each other ( using strait edge to line up )

not seeing any markings to point aux to..
cam has a piece from back part of timing cover ( plastic tab )with a slot
( tab lines up cam to aux using strait edge between both bolt centers )

i dont have a manual going by what i find on net .....so far...

the cam sensor was added on the 1994 2.3 ONLY FOR CA EMISSIONS CARS. It was added to all the others in 95. it is located behind the oil pump/ Aux pulley. FYI all ford Rangers 1995+ are OBD-II.

The one mistake I see being made sometimes with a person doing a snapped TB is when they align the cam. The Cam spins twice for each crank. If when you go to line up the triangles? on the cam and the inner TB belt they don't line up perfectly then you need to spin the cam 360. this will align the cam on the right stroke. The key-way on the crank should be at 12:00

here is a link to a how to youtube....there are 3 parts in total. it is not perfect but you should pick up some info........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-d-aX-GcKg&feature=related

ok so i got the tb done today truck runs great ....

i had to line the triangles that are on the inside of the gears with each other using a strait edge or string ...

tried that one first due to no diamond on the aux or on block near aux gear
...
thanks to all thats helped me with my homework....
