I am new to this forum but not to wheeling and fab. I have a worked over a 90 Bronco, SAS, one ton running gear, exo etc etc etc.. I am thinking of a project with and for my son. He is only 10.5 but this could take at least three years to do it in our spare time and do it right.

My thoughts are to get a 1993 sport with a strait body, nice interior and frame. I want to swap-in a 302 EFI, ZF 5 spd., Borg warner 1356 T-case, 1330 drive shafts, Hi pinion fullwidth D44 front with ARB and a Ford 9" with ARB for the rear on 35" tires (basically, a fullsize 78-79 bronco running gear minus the heavy NP205). It would get an exo cage.

I choose the 93 cause it should be inexpensive, has a steering box, and a boxy exocage would be easy to match the lines on that body style.

Are there any good examples of a similar build? What do you see as the positives and negatives of using a 93 for this project?????

why run a chain style T-case if your going to build something like that why not go with a NP 205 or even like a 203 or dana 300? I know the 1356 has been put behind the 460 and diesel in the 1-ton, and is strong enough. but I have heard it has some bad probs with the shift forks and oil pumps. Last if im right you would have to mod the frame rails for the 1356 to fit as of how wide it is. In all else sounds like an awesome build wish I would have had a dad todo something like that

sounds like a nice setup,

a 1356 will fit

I put in a BW 1356, which did require that I grind away some of my frame, but not too much. I'm going to go back later and reinforce it with some steel. Now all that I'm waiting for is for some money.

person here is my setup, been building slowly
89 Bronco II
3 inch body lift
F.I truck 5.0(added dual sump)
90 AOD
84 Np208(little tight, but didn't have to modify framerails)
93 explorer Radiatior tucked under core support(gonna redo, kinda fugly right know)
ford taurus Electric fan set up as a puller in front of radiator behind grill
----------------
need to get running:
Plumbing, wiring, driveshafts, fluids)
------------------
future Drivetrain(to start)
Hp dana 30 Xj, xj long arm suspinsion
Explorer 8.8 disc
full convertible
6 point cage

have about a year so far in the build, maybe another 2 till i get it where i want it(wanna rebuild the 302 i have know), but ive done everything on my fixed budget, and from my experience i think it be a good way of teaching him mechanics and a nice father son project

Cool Deal I wasn't really sure I was just told by someone that you had to mod your frame rails to make one fit on a RBV
