1993 frame info

I've read several posts and comments on the web about the removable rear frame section and how the 1993 to 2011 range should have them.

I have a 1993 Ranger Standard cab Long bed, 4x4 with a 5 spd manual 4.0 and it is a one piece full frame.
is this truck an oddball? Or are the people saying this wrong?


It has a manufactured date of 08/1993 and the vin starts with 1 so I know it was manufactured in the U.S.
I am also wondering if the Mazda trucks had a 1 piece full frame?

93 to 97 (3rd gen) has solid frame rails. 98+ (4th gen) has a 2 piece frame that is riveted together (right behind the cab) and you can cut the rivets to replace half.
I believe the mazda trucks were 1 year behind rangers, so a 94-97 should be a direct swap for frame/drivetrain etc - everything except the sheetmetal.

Yeah, the two piece frames started in 98. They were joined at the leaf spring hanger.

I guess instead of "sheetmetal" I should have said "exterior styling" cause that includes headlights, grill, etc - all the other stuff that is exterior but not made of sheetmetal.
