I'm having a major issue removing some nasty, rusted ball joint pinch bolts. I am contemplating going to the pick and pull and grab a whole front assembly where I can loosen the pinch bolt and rebuild and install that. Other than looking for a Dana 35 with 3.73. Which Rangers, Explorers, B Series should I look for?

Here is my link to my ball joint pinch bolt issues. If I am not successful on drilling and chipping out the bolt. I may look for a workable assembly to rebuild.

I appreciate all of those participating on the Ranger Station forums. I understand how valuable your knowledge is and I appreciate it. As President of the Fairlane Club of America, I know the importance of sharing accurate knowledge. Thank you and I'd appreciate any help with my question.

Best I can say is read the article linked below. Most 93-97 Rangers with 6cylinder engines should have a D35. But learn how to identify them before you go to the junk yard. This article, by the way, is in our tech library along with hours and hours of other good info/reading material.

If you replace it completely, would be a great opportunity to go dual piston brakes. 95? 96 and 97. Good luck.

It's a beater truck. Stock is fine.

Asdm around? He is near you.

Probably knock that right out.

Any complete axle or knuckles will swap if it has a pinch bolt. Steering gets beefier somewhere....maybe explorer....

Swapping the pumpkin isn't hard once it's off so it doesn't have to be anything matching really... so basically any '91-94 Explorer or mid '90 to '97 Ranger, the hybrid axles the difference was in the inner axle shafts and inside the pumpkin, everything else was the same... if you don't want to change brakes stay in the '90-94 year range...

I haven’t seen ADSM on here in quite a while.
