1992 Ranger and a possible parts Ranger

New to the forum and I'm looking for advise. My daughter has a '92 Ranger that we are working at fixing up. Her first vehicle. I've found a possible parts vehicle for it, '86 Ranger, and am wondering how well this would work. I know the obvious, that the headlights, fenders and such are different...but I'm looking at more the cab, suspension, bed, and such. It's only a few hundred for it, but don't want to spend on it if it's not gonna work. Thank you in advance...

Cab and bed are same I believe. Depending on engine size rear ends could be different, but still interchangeable. Front end will swap but could be slightly different re: brakes and ball joint style. You dont say engine size or if 4x4 or 2wd...

Yup....totally forgot that part. It's a 4x2. Hers has the 3.0 w/auto, and the parts is a rolling chassis and it's a 4x2 as well

Just a note on one of the dumb chassis changes between the years is the driveline and U joint flange on the rear axle are different, they went from whatever small joint they used to use to a 13-10 joint in mid '90, but yeah, mostly interchangeable other than that, they moved the front sway bar from in the radius arms between them too and some other small changes, possibly '86 only calipers (they tried something that didn't stick if I remember right, but that might just be on 4x4...). There's little changes everywhere especially in wiring but the meat of the cab is the same between them...
