I own 2 ford rangers 1990 and 1991 one is auto the other is a 5 speed I own now 2 ford explorers 1991 ford explorer 4.0 5 speed trans the 1994 ford explorer is a 4.0 5 speed 4X4.

The first 3 pics are my 1990 ford ranger XLT extended cab it has the engine sock the one's after it are of the 1991 ford explorer

My one problem is all 4 of my ford products have the 4.0 My 1991 ford explorer LX does not have the stable shock on the engine it was never put on at the factory all the others Have the engine shock on the driver's side. I have a Missing Engine mount or engine shock. Any of you see this. I think I have one of the first ford explorers to roll out of the factory when the engine starts up its not pretty engine rocks back and forth and the engine mounts are not bad YET. Any help would be helpful One last this the The coding on the frame in that area is not disturbed. it was not put on that Frame. Let me know

I believe that dampener was only installed on 4.0 4wd rbv's. 4.0 2wds did not get them as they don't experience the torque multiplication 4 low puts on the drivetrain.

Way back when I street raced I would tie the drivers side of the engine down with chain or cable. You could do the same.

The autos are 5 speeds too ;)

all the 2 wheel drives come with the dampener. Both of my ford explorers do not have it on ether one the 2 wheel drive one did not have one Nor did the 4x4 modal one have one But boy do they make a big difference for smoothness. My 1991 ranger I stole it off of it and put it on my 2 wheel drive explorer made a big difference. Now I'm out looking at junkyards to buy them up

I have owned and parted out a ton of 4.0 Rangers and Explorers and have only seen that shock twice, once on a 1992 Ranger and again on a 1991 Explorer, both 4x4.

hahaha, Shran, I don't want to knock ya man but that's just funny.
A ton of Rangers would be equal to, uhmmm, hmmm, carry the 2 and, uhmmm...... One! :D

Haha, oh, if we're talking in terms of ACTUAL tons... is that metric tons, imperial tons, or shit tons? ass tons? In any case, many, many tons have passed through my hands.

My '94 Ranger and a friend's '93 Ranger both have the shock. Both are 5-sp stick.
Another friend has a '91 Explorer auto. It does not have the shock.

All are 4WD 4.0L.
