1) How do I take these apart to change the speakers?

2) What are the wires? One has a pink wire with a blue stripe, and a green wire with a pinkish stripe. The other has two pink wires with a blue stripe.

Heres some pictures-
The Speaker Boxes.
Sticker on the back.
Pretty sure this is how they were in the truck.
Speaker Part, Notice the little circle things? Maybe thats how it comes off.. no luck twisting with pliers though.
Theres on of the little buggers on the back too.
The wires. Whats the green one for?

Im pretty sure that they were stock. They were bolted to the floor with plates (One hell of a b*tch to remove) and have a ford logo on the back.

I pulled them from a 1988 XLT Reg Cab before getting ready to junk it. Thought they were interesting.

i dont know, but i have a set of stock speakers that would fit your truck... you can have em if you pay for shipping or pick em up? they are like brand new, i just put lightning audio speakers in, the stock ones actually sound better, but i dont want to waste any more of my time swapping them again.

Nah, im not swapping them. I just feel like messing around with them.

I discovered that they work with the stereo in my bedroom. So now I have four speakers :D

I might move them into the back of my super cab for a *free* extra set.

Anyway, even if I was going to swap them, I would have just bought new instead of ripping a pair out of some old speakers that have been sitting in a truck with a bashed in windshield since '01

God that was a waste of time. :D
Interesting experience though.

Word of advice - Things with completely round bolts, were not meant to be taken apart.

Turns out that the whole thing is a speaker.

Had to spray the crap out of the bolts with some penetrating lube, and then grip with some pliers (that barely fit into the recessed area around the nut) and twist. Harder than hell to do.

How about a picture of what they look like inside.
I have been using a pair as extra speaker in my truck for years

They just look like a speaker in a box once you get the front plate off, other than that i cant tell you, there was no possible way to get it open.

Do you know if this is a bass speaker or just a regular speaker?
Thanks

Oh almost forgot,
Here is a list of what the wires are for from when I put a new head unit in..
Pink/Blue - Right Rear (+)
Pink/Blue - Left Rear (-)
Pink/Green - Left Rear (+)
Green/Orange - Right Rear (-)

So my rear speakers, same as the ones in your pic, died last week. So I took them apart. Sorry I don’t believe in using lube. So I used a hatchet.

The interior of the speaker enclosure is lined on the back with foam and the speaker is resting on 3 rubberized disks, the back is secured to the front with super glue.

The speakers themselves are 6 ohm and had some nice bass when they worked.

I am trying to figure out what speakers to put in the boxes now.

The hole pattern is 4 5/8 inches and the opening is 4 inches. But the three way speakers from places like cruchfield and others are weak and this stx has the premium sound with an amp in the dash.
