1987 Ranger center console

Anyone put bucket seats and center console in a 87 Ranger ? If so what console did you use ??

I'm not sure what your end game is with the console. If you're looking for a factory look... there are some options.

If you're looking for functional security... Tuffy makes a solid offerings in a couple versions. I bought a 6 1/2 inch wide one that would fit even with fairly wide seats. The Tuffy consoles aren't cheap... Smittybilt makes one too and are more affordable. A bit wider though and a pretty tight fit.

There was a console with a flip up arm rest that works pretty good, it came in some Rangers (you'll need seat tracks from a Ranger with a split bench or buckets to mount bucket seats) but mostly Explorers. I'm not talking about the console that goes up to the dash, just the shorter one... It's kind of a pain to get out with the seats in, it's only held in by the aluminum bracket for the arm rest, there's 2 bolts on each side under a plastic cover that hold the parts on.

So, my green Ranger, the previous owner swapped in buckets from a Ranger or Explorer and built his own console which just wasn’t working for me. Being particularly handy, I built my own console. I still got a few things to finish with it, some tweaks, then it’s getting covered in speaker carpet. I honestly like what I did way better than any of the factory offerings. Two speakers, two huge cup holders, switch panel, and compartment that will eventually house the CB and fuses plus storage.

My 92 is an STX, so factory Buckets and console. It’s ok. My 88 Bronco II is an Eddie Bauer with buckets and console and it has a thing to check your lights which is kinda cool, but the cup holders are two dimples in the console lid which does not, at all, work to retain anything but whatever spills in there. My 89 Bronco II has buckets and there was a center console at some point, but it does not exist now. I don’t rightly remember if it had the console when I got it or not. I think not. No center console is kind of annoying and there’s no cup holders exactly. I haven’t really worked out a solution in that yet since it’s a choptop so the interior gets rinsed regularly.

we found a factory center console in the junkyard last year, with flip up arm rest and front cup holders. it has the aluminum mounts. keep are eye out for one of those. its already made for the truck and can be had cheap if you happen to run into on at the jy

I pulled one out of an Explorer at the junkyard and be assured, they are ATTACHED!!

They can be monsters to get out, and the only one I took out will never see any use.
I decided to leave their home version in the Explorer. It worked rather well and was easy to move
The ones I got it from had a baby and she liked it being movable so she could easily get in the back
