Ok so i have been working on this thing for a while now tinkering with it trying to get it going. it has the overhead console 4x4 switch.

so here is the issue i have taken the electric motor off of the transfer case and it is working i hard wired it up to the battery and it will roll it all the way one way. you reverse polarity and it will take it all the way back the other direction.
at this point i know the electric motor is good.

I took off the overhead console to check the switches and they are both in good operation. i even cleaned the little computer board that they are on.

so what it is doing when you hit the button to engage it into four wheel drive you can hear clicking under the passenger side of the dash. i pulled that little computer looking thing out from underneath the dash and i found no problems with it.

i can manually lock it into four wheel drive and it works but not when i push the button i have checked all the fuses under the steering wheel on the dash and they are all good. nothing on that fuse panel info sticker says anything about four wheel drive. anyway i am up for any kind of ideas of how to get this thing going

Hook a test light to the motor's plug and hit the button. If the light lights your motor is probably weak. If the light doesn't light up, switch to manual 4x4.

already tried that..... and it doesnt have manual four wheel drive just automatic lock out hubs and push button four wheel drive no shifter for the four wheel drive

I think what he means is, go get you a manual t case. To pick up a BW1350m isn't that expensive. A elec shift motor is about 100 bucks.:icon_thumby:

Country is right. I meant that if you can't find a quick easy fix for it just switch to a manual case. Anymore those are cheaper than the shift motors.

I almost sold a manual shift t-case for $25. Couldn't figure out how to ship it. I'd still take $25 for it if someone comes to pick it up.

question: how well would the manual shift lever fit in. on my 91, the transmission shifter is directly in center of the hump. doesnt really look like room for much else right there.

just wondering in case i decide to swap my electric tcase.

This is the best pic I have to show you how the shifter sits.

The hole that you need in the floor pan is already there. The block plate that the shifter holes are in is what you will need.

Mine came stock with manual 4x4 and manual trans, and as you can see, my main shifter sits pretty centered on the trans tunnel too.

tight fit but doesnt look as bad as i had thought. i thought the ones that came stock had the shifter farther over on the passenger side. at least the couple had paid attention to.

thanks!:icon_thumby:

ok so back to the original question does anyone know what the box under the dash is or where a fuse might be for the four wheel drive?

and a manual transfer case is 200 dollars in my area without shifter or anything!

oh and got any of that bear jerky for me?! haha

Well, that pic was taken the week after Christmas, so no.

Ok, there is 1 fuse in the whole system, fuse 6, 15 amp 2nd row of 3 horizontal fuses, 1st one.

As for your question about this alleged black box, I may have said this already, just less bluntly....

:worthless:

Thats a little high, should be able to find one cheaper, nonetheless, put an ad on here.

The realiability is well worth it.

A pic of your fuse block is not helpful. I know what that looks like, even got one of my own.

I can't begin to guess what your black box is without seeing it.
