1985 2wd Ranger Clutch Replacement Problem

Run into a slight snag in the clutch replacement. My original throw out bearing was tossed as it was mangled badly before I realized that I need a part from it. The new throw out bearing looks completely different and does not retain the spring as the OEM did. In other words, the OEM was a push and 1/8th turn to release it from the input shaft, but the new one does not do this. I am thinking there must be a clip or something on that OEM piece that I needed to move to the new bearing. Checked with Ford and the OEM throw out bearing is a discontinued part now.

1985 Ranger 2wd, 2.3 EFI with a 5-speed. If you know of any wrecking yards or online sources, please let me know. Thanks.

I have a new TOB for an 85 v6 but I'm pretty sure the 4 bangers use the same one. Looks about like this.

They all take the same TOB. There are no clips, you just need to push it on and it will clip into place. I paid extra money and went with a Centerforce TOB. It was much more high quality than the cheap TOB that came on my slave cylinder. The down side to the Centerforce TOB is they cost about $100.

You may need to just push it on the slave a little harder for it to clip into place.
