The perfect is the enemy of the good.
Saw in movie Ford pickup, not sure if extended cab or 4-door (I think the former) and it had two narrow vertical windows in the back (sides) instead of the one window we normally see in extended cab. I am wondering is this an actual vehicle or is it something Hollywood kluged together? Movie is "View from the top" and it's Ted's truck you see it a few times in the movie.

Shame on you for making me google "View from the Top film". You should try to get a frame grab and post it here so we can see what you're talking about without messing up my search algorithm.

EDIT: lot's of sarcasm in my words. Never seen the movie and I couldn't see any pics of it on the webs.

Saw one of these on the road yesterday, plus, saw another on on Magnum PI last night. But they aren't so cool after all, looks like there are no suicide doors so that would suck. Looks cool, but, not practical. Wonder why they did that.

Because it was better than nothing.

They finally got one rear door on the passenger side with the new body style in 97, one on the DS sprouted in 99.

A Supercab didn't have rear doors because the front seat folded at the bottom corner so it would lay flat for access. Rear doors had to be added after safety regs required changes in the seat design. We used to sell mostly regular cabs because Supercabs and Crew Cabs were considered so ugly that only companies would buy them.

I had this one for a few years. Was the most unreliable vehicle I've ever owned but it got the job done. Looks pretty good for a Rustoleum paint job lol

So my '99 was the first year with both sides? Or are you talking F150 only?

' 99 F-150. It was optional on the Rangers, not sure on the specifics.

I always hated the split window on the 80’s supercab... nothing beats a’78-79 supercab.

The Ranger offered both 4–door and the original 2–door versions of the SuperCab from 1999 till end of production in late 2011. Those goofy little jump seats in the back were actually an option, not standard, at least in lower-end models as contractors would buy. But I don't know whether Ford actually offered the jump seats in the 2–door versions all the way until the end. My 4–door has them.

When I was looking for a Ranger, I saw several 2009–2011s with 2–door SuperCabs. Those usually had been work trucks and had no jump seats.

So I wonder if any of this would apply to the changes in the F-150 versions. Later in the 1980–1997 run the rear side windows in those SuperCabs deleted the split and were just solid glass like the Rangers.

The 2 doors had the jump seats as an option too, but they are in a different spot. They are on the side(where the door would be) facing in to the center.

My 2011 2 door has them. I think they are more useable in the 2 door, because someone with legs can sit in it.

I don't use the jump seats (I wouldn't do that to anyone except obnoxious little kids, heh heh), but when I have had to move them, they pivot to the same position as you describe. Someone sitting in them would be sitting to the side with their legs toward the center of the cab.

snoranger dude that a nice truck awesome thing is I don't see many for sale and haven't found your model at all yet, and even the others (not supercab) are really pricey. I wouldn't even want to guess what yours is worth.
yeah I took out the jump seats in mine, making (sometime) a platform/storage box, copying another guy on here who did it, sorry, forget who it was but he did a real nice job on it
I love the rear doors, just came back from groceries and it makes it so easy, better than a hatch or trunk or anything. they didn't work when I got it but I bought those aluminum parts and all good now.
