17x7 and 17x8 rims

On a 91 2wd ranger on my front i would like to put a 17x7 infront but so far all the rims i have been trying have been sticking out about 3/4 to 1inch and thats with 4inch backspace and 0 offset. What is everyone else using i really dont want my tires sticking out pass my fender.:icon_confused:
 
If you have a 17x7 with 4" backspace that is sticking 3/4 - 1 inch the you need a 17x7 with 4.75 - 5 inch backspace to sit about flush.

FYI the stock 17" mustang wheels are 8" wide. If you look down in the wheel and tire forum where this thread should have been posted I think you will find lots of pics showing them on Rangers. Can't tell you what the offset of them are. I know sometime they work perfect other times they need a spacer. Seems to vary by the truck and wheel style.
 
17X7 w/4" backspacing will not give a "0" off-set but 1/2".
