I just picked up a 88 ranger xlt with a A4LD auto transmission and 1350 electric transfer case, the guy says that when he bought it, the guy that sold it to him had ripped the push buttons off the roof and that the transfer case is stuck in 4wd, also the front drive shaft is no where to be found. so what i was wandering is if i could bolt a manual 1350 borg-warner case on with out any mods and what would i need to do this?

Thanks for the help.

Just the case, lever, electrical harness, boot/hump plate, and (in your case) front driveshaft.

As long as the donor has a Dana 28, and automatic transmission, you don't care what year or model.

You can do anything you want, If you want to bad enough. You have TRS. Do what you can, If you get stuck, just ask us. We'll tell you how to fix it!
Removing the Rear drive shaft is probably the hardest part. If you have really nice carpet and don't want to cut it, that could become the hardest part. It would require complete dis-assembly of the interior. (Well, a lot of it anyway).

i had my brother in law look at it today and he said that it is in 4low, does any one know if there is a way i can get the transfer case to go into 2wd so i can use it to go get another case?

thanks,
Nathan

take the shift motor off the case and use a pair of pliers to turn the shifter knob. the case should have the setting(2hi 4hi 4lo) on the case just turn it to the right one. if it wont turn easily have a buddy you trust to roll the truck very slowly while you try to turn it.
