1 ton SAS swap

if your gonna go cheap build drop brackets use grade 8 bolts and add 1-2'' tack welds all around the edges controlled heat ie let it cool between tack welds this will help get good weld penitration and minimize stress cracking later

we used to do this a lot up here on our mud and river crossing rigs all the time you also will want to add lateral support(left to right) to help keep it from potentially shifting or bending side to side. 1/4 '' steal or better recommended.not much different than a lot of aftermarket lifts do any way just bigger!

Yes, your vehicle will not pass a motor vehicle inspection with them.

go to liftlaws.com. Any state you click on will tell you that FRONT lift blocks are illegal.

Can't have more than a three inch block in the rear either.

nah, Mississippi don't care.

HOWEVER, front lift blocks are a bad idea...

That doesn't make sense. 6" lifts come with 4.5"-5.5" blocks. Those lifts are DOT approved. I wouldn't WANT more then 3" of block...

Rear blocks are to be no more than 5 inches, and shackles can be no more than 2 inches over factory. Its body lift that can not be over 3 inches.

I have seen some that are a 6 block that bolts to the springs, still scary tho...

So when I had washers stacked on top and under my 3" body lift I was illegal? I had "The new sheriff in town" whos pet peeve, according to him, was incorrectly lifted trucks and lack of flares/mud flaps.eye over my 1994 Ranger when I first built it. It had about 10" total lift with 37x12.5's on 7" rims. Only thing he said was my factory mud flaps were insufficient.
Now about the shackles - How come I can buy shackles that are more then 2" longer the factory? Trail gear makes a 8" shackle! BellTech makes shackles longer then the 6400's, I'm don't know their length, but I have the 6400's and they are 2" longer then factory. If I put a longer leaf spring in, I SHOULD put a longer shackle in as well?

My insurance company does NOT require vehicle inspections - EVER - No matter what the year is.:D

but if you crash it.. or cause a crash, and they find out you are not in compliance of laws; they don't have to pay.

No state - Province - Shit hole Alberta. Maybe 25% of it is interesting. The rest is Blah!
My Ranger's have been "Unmodified for speed or Performance" for a few years now. So I'm to concerned about the insurance thing. I don't spend enough time in these foolish cities the last couple years to justify spending double the $ on Insurance. Does your guys' insurance double in the states if you put a lift in and bigger tires?
I've had NO bodylift since July. I cut my (x6) of my 3" bodylift blocks in 1/2 the other night. I'm going to put 1&3/8" body lift back in. What are the laws on cutting blocks in 1/2 lol?
I know someone who bought a 6" body lift made by Performance Accessories to fit a Dodge 1500. I thought all their body lifts were DOT approved? She bought it in Montana, USA.
