1 ton SAS swap

The EB coils aren't going to give him near the amount of lift he wants. It's his dd and we've read/heard that with that much lift it's gonna be horrible on the street without coilovers. Fact or Fiction???
I had a 5.5" and a 1" block stacked under my leafs for a couple years and it was horrible. When I took them out the ubolts were BENT BAD!!! That was with larger diameter ubolts - 9/16" I think.
I've got a 4Runner buddy who has TrailGear leaf springs on all 4 corners, the thing flexes like crazy and is a decent street ride for a solid axle.
Is there anyone using TrailGear leafs on their Ranger?! I want to know how much lift a 5.5" lift TrailGear leaf will lift a Ranger - front and rear?
I'm thinking it will be ALOT easier for us to build using leafs in the front, cheaper for him, and a bit more stable on the street compared to a 3' tall coil!
Input?

WILL The radius arms work on my ranger if i run leafs ? or should i go coilovers with bracing on outside of frame ?
i have the lift kit bracing from the 1 ton but in order for it to be the same measurment as ranger frame the have to be on the outside of frame instead of properly on the inside .

or would a 3 link be better

Is that the remnants of an A4LD in front of the D60 I see in pic #2? :D

The Eb coils will give him any amount of lift he wants, depending on the length of the coil and where he mounts his coil buckets and lower coil mounts.

A coil over and coil can both be good or shit on the street, all depends on tuning. Weather this be via shocks, sway bars or how the coil overs themselves are tuned.

I have seen a few guys use TG leafs. A ranger is probably a tad bit heavier than a Toyota pickup. Again, actual lift height will vary by where you mount your springs.

You guys really have a lot of research and learning to do just based on some of the questions being asked. Not trying to be a dick at all here.

When I had stock chevy 63's in my truck I ran them with the stock 4x4 rear block and an extended shackle to get the truck sitting level at 5" of lift up front.

I guess tho my lift leafs being new, they probably are giving the truck more than 5" of lift. could be 6 or 7 I guess. The truck does have a body lift in it still. I have plans of removing it when I cage the truck. I mostly kept it at this time as I lifted the drive train a bit to get the t case and everything above the frame rails.

Sasquatch, I think nmb2 runs TG leafs on his and its about 6" over stock he said, and he clears 42's? But he hacked the hell out if the front.

And I agree that you guys should do quite a bit more research. There is a ton of info on the site. Just go to the search button up top and type in whatever is you're looking for and it should pop up.

You dick - lol - No, I value your input Sasquatch, you have given me really good info/advice on here before, more then once. We do have a lot of learning to do on the subject, that's why LiLRanger started this thread before we started cutting!
The 4runner I referred to used to be IFS and he bought a kit from TG to do a SAS. It gave him 4" lift leaf springs. It has WAY WAY more lift then 4"! He said TG used to make a 7" leaf but now only made a 5.5" leaf, but figures that 5.5" leaf actually gives 7" lift - on a Yota.
I'm aware that spring mounting location will greatly affect the amount of lift. I'm just trying to get a rough idea. Theres no point of LiLRanger spending $ on new leafs and then getting less lift then has now with Ranger 8" lift springs. Then he's gonna want 12" blocks in the rear lol!
Any chance you got a pic of your '91 Ranger with a person beside it? Or do you know how high off the ground your door handle body line is? Your rig looks awesome man! These are the first pics I've seen of it with 40's.

I've tapped the shit out of the Search button on here - member since 2008 with only 58 posts! I usually get frustrated dealing with people pretty quick. I was hoping someone would come on here and say "I had the exact same dilemma a few years ago, here's what I did". Not everyone has 5-10K to spend at once. I know we could go to the wrecker's and grab (x4) stock 63" leafs and weld them in, put long shackles and big blocks in - but then it probably is gonna be a pig. On the street and trail - If I can ever get the mudbogger out on a cutline!:D

my ranger is made to be muddy not clean
now does whyone know where i can get 8'' lift leaf blocks , the search button here doesnt help i cant find anything on skyjacker or any other brand , bds , fabtech , anything .

i know i need to look more but but i gave this a shot before i cut my truck all to shit i dont have alot of money and all input is appreciated here ...
i just wanna lift the ass end 8'' and ill make the front to match it

Please do not use 8" of block under the spring....

Get a decent set of rear lift springs, add a longer rear shackle and then if you still need it use a factory 4x4 block or less to get the height you need.

The door handle is right around 4' 8" or so.

I do already have the belt each shackles and 2in blocks with the 8" lift
Thing is I want to be a additional 5-6 in higher then I am now

The shackles I have are 5in maybe my rear leafs are just worn right out so some new TG would do the trick

I know what you mean I've been wanting to sas mine for a little over a year now. But don't have the funds. When I do my sas I'm gonna use TG leafs cuz I want to push the front forward a couple inches. Plus I've heard they flex really well. Plus if I don't have enough lift for the tires ill just cut till they do.

You're way to polite man! I'm not...but he won't listen to me. Unfortunately, lol, he can't find any 8" blocks. Biggest anyone makes/sells around here is 5.5".
So what's the deal with leafs in the front - is any amount of block acceptable? Or just use long shackles and lower the mounts accordingly? I've seen lots of people weld square tubing across the bottom of the frame rails in the front, then put their leaf mounts off the tubing. Anyone?

I have air shocks on my buggy. I get mad flex, but it rides like a slinky an could use some fine tuning....

If it's going to be just a mud truck build down the frame an use leaves out back and coils up front. Ballistic fabrication has some sweet upper coil mounts that are adjustable, and they work really well.

Front lift blocks are illegal actually. So no, no blocks up front.
