1 ton SAS swap

Bilstiens are a reputable top of the line company that you can't go wrong with.

I know that but what should I go with 5150 or the 5100

Was thinking about the 5100 just cause there nice and simple
And cheaper

Silly automatics

Hi Lil-Ford. Has anyone ever told you mud holes are just for people to scared to climb hills lol? (I'm gonna get hammered by people 4 that 1!) SasquatchRyder - Do you have a "offroad package" in your A4LD (stronger bands etc.) or just the shift kit? Lil Ford got a 1996 trans. Anyone know if the shift kit be a mechanical kit (ballbearings in valve body) or a "plug and play" electronic 3-way switch? Also, Sasquatch, is that the same A4LD you've had since you were runnin 36" tires? Or has it been rebuilt/replaced?

Your post was kinda hard to understand...

My A4LD is stock internals from 1991 still. I installed a Trans Go Shift kit probably 7 years ago, it is a mechanical kit (upgraded servo spring, drilling out passages etc.) I installed a huge B&M trans cooler around the same time. Zero issues with the trans on 35, 36 and now 40" tires.

are you also running the trans through the radiator ?
i must be doing something wrong then since ive blown up 2 of em

Yes, still goes through the rad just like stock.

shit maybe thats why i blew 2
anymore tips on that trans ?

heat is not a A4LD's friend for sure...

Keep clean fluid in it, don't over heat it, gear your axles as low as possible to take the strain off the trans.

doubler can be a good addition to.

i never had it running through rad before i think that be big issue
whats a normal temp for it 140 is when i turn the fan on

Quick question, are you going to be running the 4.0? Just seems with 40" tires, heavy axles, and thick mud I would almost put a 5.0 in it at least? I'm no expert but seems like there would be a big issue with not having enough power to spin the wheels even with a set of really steep gears in it.

that's a toss up really. 4.0 will turn it with the right gears but you might wanna invest in a different t/case, either a doubler or atlas style case with lower gears.
