So I just got this uplander the other day and it seems ok so far. The last few times I started it it would take a few extra seconds to start the motor. when it finally would start there would be a big cloud of smoke out the exhaust. its an 07 chevy uplander with the 3.9 and 130,000 miles. previous owner didn't really know too much about it other than the brakes were done and he drives it everyday. Anyone know what this might be? I haven't had a chance to look under the hood and I'm at work for the next few hours. so the more info the better.

Check spark plugs

Cold start means "Choke" is set, so extra fuel is added, need a good spark then

Also there is an IAC(idle air control) Valve(same as Fords), it may be sticking closed
If you are pushing gas pedal down to get it to start then IAC Valve could be the problem
