First off, I apologize if this looks like I'm re-posting a question that seems to have been discussed often.
My concern is that most of the previous postings seem to apply to older models.
I bought an '06 STX that is in near new condition, only 20k miles. Problem is it doesn't have some of the creature comforts I loved in my '03 XLT (before it met a canyon wall at 65 mph). It has manual looks and windows, living in Arizona I find the lack of power windows to be a real pain in the butt.
My Dad was a Ford parts guy for all 48 of his working years and he says this can't be done but what I'm wondering is how hard would it be to transplant the guts of an electric door into my manual ones? Would I need to replace the tracks and regulators? I'd settle for only the windows if I had too. I replaced a couple motors in my '03, but I can't remember alot about the internals of the door. I even considered just swapping the doors but that will run me about $1200 before paint.
My Dad also says that the harness connections shouldn't be hard to find. I doubt they ran them all the way into a manual door. Would I find the connectors under the dash somewhere, or behind the kick panels? Was there more than one basic harness that was installed in these?
I have stumbled across a few aftermarket conversion kits, but I don't trust them much.
A side note, I had the back of the cab de-paneled putting in a sliding window and surprise!, no rear speakers. I thought I'd find the connections somewhere in there. I know how to wire a stereo but I'd rather use the factory connections if anyone could help me find them.
Anyway, that's my newbie question. I appreciate any suggestions, even partial or wrong ones.
P.S. I'm really pissed they're dropping the Ranger line, I could probably drive one of these till I'm dead.
