03 to 04 and 05 to 11 2.3 engines interchangable? Please help need answer soon!

I cant find a replacement engine for my dads 04 2.3l ranger. The 05 to 11 engines look the same, are they interchangeable? Ford tells me that from 03 to 04 and 05 to 11 that there a different parts number but they don't know whats different between the years, are they the same?

Not 100%, but pretty sure they didn't change from late 2001 untill 2011.

As long as you get the same motor with the trans that is in the truck now. No worries. Have you checked all the scrap yards near you? Looked on Ebay or Craigslist.
