I did a search and found a thread where someone was having a sputtering problem, I did everything they did in the forum, except chang out the cap & rotor.

I have an 03 3.0L and the truck feels like it wants to die, you put it in gear and step on the gas to go, and it jerks you like you dont know haw to drive a standard. it feels like its not getting enough fuel. i changed the air filter, and fuel filter a year ago. (i know this sounds like a long time, but i put less then 6,000 miles since). I just recently changed all the plugs and wires out, and the truck ran fine for a day, but then seemed to start acting up again.

any suggestions?

sounds like mine right now. my mass air flow sensor is bad and that is causing the problem. might want to check into that.

The mass air flow sensor is the metal section that is right off your air cleaner. If it gets dirty or anything it will cause the engine to run rough.

The IAC is the little cylindrical device sitting atop the Throttle Body that has like 3 wires coming out of it.

Also you do not have a cap and rotor, these newer engines have a cam shaft position sensor where the distributor goes, and there is a coil pack which you attached all your wires to.

where is that located on my truck? and how do i check it?

how do i check my mass air flow sensor also?

unplug the mass air flow sensor and start it up. it should run a lot smoother, just rich since the computer is "guessing" how much air/fuel is needed by the rpm's. i wouldn't drive like that much but just to make sure it actually is the MAFS.

Check compression levels, could be the issue as much as anything else =P

Might want to also check fuel pressure regulator. I doubt its the IAC.

i tested my fuel pressure and it was around 65 to 70 psi.
im not sure what is normal, but i would guess thats pretty good pressure.

i can try to unplug the mass air flow sensor and see what does.

im not sure if i have a cap & rotor or not, i have heard that it could be the cam shaft sensor, or crankshaft position sensor as well.
