01 escape manifold cat

What can cause this on an 01 escapes manifold cat? Its molten and turned to dust.. not sure if then PIC will upload but we will see

Too much fuel, not enough spark, take your pick. It's the same list of things that can cause any other cat to melt down.
 
Looks like radioactive moon rocks. Keep SuperMan away from that load.

I had a more descriptive story my first time but i did it from my phone and lost it all after attaching the picture. Anyway I had never seen anything like this before getting this escape. Im hoping its just from a clogged cat and not a shitty running engine. There are cats on both the manifolds and downstream.. what an awesome way to make something low emissions. anyway im just pissed because the shop was trying to charge me 1500 for the part from ford. I dont want to be doing this all the time because ford wants to save the world.
