01 Edge 2wd 5spd Dana 28 to 35

Hey guys -

I've tried to search and didnt really see anything about direct swaps from a 7.5 to 8.8 for an 01-p Edge 2wd. I'm not in a rush, but would like to find a 8.8 limited slip 4.10 that direct swaps in to my Edge.

How much of a PITA is this, and does brake size matter or transmission matter? Dont think it does, but when I go to search on car-part.com it asks me for what code I want as far as build (S303A, S330A, S333S, etc). Is that only a location code for where it was built?

Again, i'm not in a rush I just want to get some info in case I can come across a rear end here in South Jersey cheap. Not opposed to and open diff (I can put a locker in it) but would rather just a bolt up unit.

What codes should I be looking for?

Well just get a 8.8 out of an explorer. Disc brakes are way better and stop much better.Year dont matter, just have to weld on some new spring perches and shock mounts, not hard at all. Re-use the u-bolt plates/shock mounts and just cut the tabs off on the end. Look up axle codes in the tech lib and see what you need for 4.10's, pretty common.

I was actually looking more along the lines of a FX4 Level II but I heard there were some suspect rears for those things. So prob just looking for a 4.10 limited slip out of another ranger. Don't have any welding skills and the Explorer swap sounds a little more involved that I want to get into for an 01 with a 3.0

If there is something relatively easy to swap from another Ranger I could tackle that. You start talking about welding mounts and crap and im more inclined to save for a new truck (even though I just got this one 2 weeks ago but I needed a vehicle)
