I know it’s on here somewhere but I need to check timing and possibly change it. I thought I read somewhere that you can’t is that correct?

Spark timing or cam/crank timing?

Spark timing is done by the ICM(ignition control module) in 1989-1994 2.3l Rangers
Its based in Crank sensor base timing
Warm idle should show about 20deg BTDC with SPOUT connected, that's about 12deg BTDC base spark timing
The computer INPUT for spark timing is the SPOUT wire, this replaces the "vacuum advance" needed for spark changes when accelerating

Cam/crank timing can be adjusted by buying an adjustable Cam gear, looks like this one: https://esslingeracing.com/image/ca...a7-Black_Round_Tooth_Cam_Gear-0-1-800x800.jpg
