My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Fuel pump doesn't tell you how much fuel is in the tank. The level sending unit does that in conjunction with the guage in the dash and, I believe, a low voltage (5volts?) Power supply. I think RonD has more info. You can also find circuit diagrams in the how to tech section of this website.

Im going to assume you changed the float/sender along with the pump?

If you did and its still not working then its in the wireing between the sender and dash.
