My credo
Maintain it dammit!
I used my 4x4 system yesterday ('93 Ranger 4.0 OHV Manual trans, manual locking hubs, etc) and had some binding without full wheel lock and was wondering from a maintenance standpoint, anything I need to do on this '93 in the front to ease operation? Front diff fluid was just changed, grease points or other? Thanks!

When you do the ball joints you should also do the front axle u-joints, if this wasn't done then could be where the binding is coming from

1993/4 can have hybrid Dana axle so see which you have, look here: https://therangerstation.com/tech_library/dana_28_35.shtml

If newer u-joints were installed then they "may" have zerk fitting for lube gun, original did not

When doing the front axle shaft u-joints you cannot use a joint press. You have to use a hammer and vice to pop the caps out.

If you use a press you WILL warp the ears, and blow the ends of the new caps apart when you install them. Ask me how I know.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
look up inside where the shafts run through the axle beams and make sure there isn't any trash (tree limbs, rocks, dead animals, etc.) in there binding on the shafts.
