So sitting at home watching some American pickers at 11:30pm when I hear a loud bang/crash sound outside. My house is just feet away from the road btw. So I look outside and I see someone has just crashed into my Pacifica that I just got in July from the last accident we were in. The girl said she swerved to miss a cat (may be true as we have a lot of stray cats running around our town). Anyway, call the cops and the cops instantly start asking how much she had to drink and cop saw marks on her hand as is she had been shooting up. She says its from working in a factory (Bullshnitz). So cops start looking through her car and find open containers and some of the .99 cent mini liquor bottles. So she got arrested for OVI and we got a totaled Pacifica. It really sucks when you have a car accident when the car is parked at your house. So she hit our car so hard that it pushed it into the telephone pole and locked the cars together (she was trying to get the cars separated to probably flee the scene). Here's the irony.... we literally got our final papers to sign off on from our 4th of July accident to be all said and done with that accident on Friday. Based off the condition of the Pacifica I am assuming it will be totaled. Maybe if the back of the car didn't hit the pole but it's still a lot of damage on a 13 year old car. So here are some pics. Enjoy. Oh, BTW, no one got hurt either. She was the only one in her car.

To bury the front wheel like that she had to have been moving pretty good.

Good thing nobody was outside when it happened :icon_thumby:

Well... At least you don't have to drive a Chrysler anymore. :icon_rofl:

Isn't it amazing how drunk drivers NEVER get hurt though. :annoyed:

Yep, totaled without a doubt. That rear quarter isn't cheap to fix. More than the car is worth by far.

Dang! Hope she has insurance and/or you've got at least comp on yours. Pacificas are pieces of shit anyway, it was a good time to part ways with it!

Yeah, if it makes you feel any better that Pacifica was totaled before she hit it, you just didn't know it yet.

I know everyone here are ford fans but this pacifica was my wife's car and it was a very nice car that was well maintained and drove like a new car. We have 4 kids so its not like I can buy the first cheap car I find. We were in a tight spot with our last accident because we had the rental car for 3 days and then we had to find something that could fit 6+ people and within budget without tons of miles. My wife needs something reliable and good on gas as she is driving 20-100 miles in a day depending on what appointment is schedule for our kids (two of them are foster kids so they have appointments like crazy). I only drove this car a handful of times and its got more power than most vans or other 6+ seat vehicles. 250HP gets up and goes. Ya'll can hate on it all you want but for the few thousand miles we put on it we were happy with it.

They aren't underpowered, that's for sure, but they are electrical nightmares. They are right up there the the new T-birds, and the Contour-based Cougars for basket-case electrical problems. They also had some endemic transmission problems. If you never had any issue the trans was probably replaced before you bought it.

I got stuck with one once that belonged to our one salesman's wife. Changing the blower speed would make a corresponding change to the radio volume, in the same direction. The alternator was bad.

I know I only had it 5-6 months but I didn't have to do anything to it other than replace the radio (bought it like that) which was no big deal. Other than that, everything worked like it should, switches, lights, everything. I think it was owned by an old lady who got stuff fixed when needed because it had all new steering components but a LOT of dings and scratches all over the car. Definitely did not look like kids were ever even in it with how clean it was. I only bought it because I was in a pinch. If anyone lives or been in Ohio then you know rust is an issue and this car was 95 percent rust free. Price was right, it could fit 6, miles were similar to what was totaled and it wasn't a mini van. Now to deal with all of this all over again is just great.... Not easy finding 3rd row seating vehicles (that's not a mini van) under 3k with mileage under 150k and not completely rusted out. Just scroll around craigslist in Ohio and you will see what I mean. Rust is just like a decals around here, some have way more than others and some have none at all.

You need a Taurus X. My friends wife drives one and they love it. He drives a Frontier and they take the X on road trips to Denver every two years or so. Says it never fails him. He has 3 kids

We had a Pacifica at work that had a mystery battery drain, never could get it fixed, our service place eventually just had us put a solar panel charger in the thing so that the battery would stay charged. Frustrating. My girlfriend had one that would randomly shut off and showed no signs of life and then just come back out of the blue, on the highway even. They are comfortable enough I guess and had some potential but their weird issues really drive me away from them.

I'd be looking for an Explorer myself. Seats 7, OK mileage, more reliable than anything Chrysler makes.

$$ unless it is a turd.

Parent's '02 was a joke, rear axle was horrid and the 4.0 was a joke that eventually fell apart. If it would have been my first Ford it would have been my last.

I had an 05 that was awesome. I bought it in 13 with 99K on the clock for $3000. It was hail damaged, but nothing more than cosmetic. Sold it about a year ago for $2000.
