So I'm kinda new to this message board, don't flame me....I have a 98' XLT Supercab 4x4 4.0 Liter and I'm getting new tires in a couple of weeks. I have been anxiously anticipating getting rid of the crappy 235/70R16 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S's. I have been debating on what tire size to put on it for awhile but I think I'm gonna get 255/70R16 (about an inch taller and about 3/4 of an inch wider). I know I can fit a little bigger but at this time fuel economy is a bit more important than filling up my fender wells. I have been reading all kinda reviews on tirerack.com for weeks now and I think I have boiled it down to 2: General Grabber's or Destination AT's. Which ones do you think? or any other suggestions that aren't too pricey would be great too....

If I were to say BFG All Terrain KO it likely wouldn't be any help. I think I'll stay out of it. Sorry I'm no help.

If its between those two then I'd go with the Grabbers...I haven't liked anything Firestone has made for a while. Just my 2 cents

My credo
"220, 221, whatever it takes."
I'm not sure if BFG A/T's are available in that size.
Tire Rack has owner's reviews of tires on their site. Both come out pretty good as I recall.
I'm getting the Firestones soon for my Sport Trac, based partly on their good reviews for snow performance, partly because it takes an oddball size and there's not much selection.

I had the Destination AT's before I got the TSL's and thought that they were decent. They are super quiet and handle ice/snow amazingly well. For what you pay, they are an excellent value.

They do tend to "roll" quite a bit around corners and the sidewalls seem to be softer and thinner than I would like. I don't have the same problem with the TSL's, although they are also a 2-ply sidewall.

It is the same idea, but it is not the same tread.

I vote for the Firestones, right now they are my next tire of choice for my F-150.

MY father has 285/70R16 destinations on his grand cherokee. They are super quiet at all speeds. They are very comfortable tires.

I run BFG's and love them! The grabbers are quite similar, and i'm sure you'd like the grabbers more than the firestones if your hitting the dirt regularly.
