I have an 86 ranger with a 2.0 i plan on swapping to a 302. My questions are what would be the best donor car or truck to make it as easy as posable?
What year and make of a car or truck will have the best wiring harness to swap in to my truck?
Has anyone else swapped in an 86 ranger?

Thanks

Are you going with a carb? If so you font really need a wiring harness. I have a 88 that had the 2.0 and there only wires that i used from the factory wre 2 going to the alternator and 2 for the reverse lights. The rest I ran myself. There not really a whole lot of wires. Its easy to do.

I used a FI 5.0 on my first Ranger V8. I converted it to a carburator and bought an aftermarket distributor that only required only one switched 12 volt wire (excluding the plug wires of course). So, the only part of the wiring harness I needed was already in the Ranger (switch key, lighting, alternator, etc. I removed the computer, sensors, etc). Good luck on your project.

thanks for the replies,
I guess what i was trying to ask was what wiring will i have to use or get rid of to do the swap?
I have an 86 with a FI 2.0 in it now.

I just got a mid 70's carbed 302 for free.:D
I plan on rebuilding it when funds are good.
Any suggestions on parts or upgrades on a budget?
anything to watch for or replace when i go threw it?
I already plan on a new manifold and carb.
