Brake light/turn signal issue (91 Ranger)

Ok, on my 91 ranger supercab (2.3L 4cyl 5spd 2wd), I have a wierd brake light issue that has something to do with the turn signals. If you turn on the left turn signal, then shut it off, the left brake light and the center light both work. If you turn on the right turn signal, then shut it off, the right brake light and the center light both work (I haven't tried it with the hazards yet lol). Now, I believe it might be the turn signal switch, but before I dig into it, has anyone experienced this before? Everything else works fine. Thanks!

i have same issue with my 73 F250, except with mine if i use my left turn signal my left hand brake light won't work until i engage right turn signal and then disengage it quickly. i would say you need to replace your signal switch, since for some reason known only to auto manufacturers they decided to run brakes and turnsignals thru same harness, and yours evidently has a short
