i think we should have a list of know parts the interchang between different years and generations such as fenders, cabs, doors, engine parts, computers, and so on

what got me thinking about this is i was wondering what it takes to put a 98+ front clip on a 93-97 ranger

you need the fenders hood and radiator support. i looked into it...you can mod the current rad support and fenders to take the newer nose . i dont know how but i have seen it done...

Just search for it. The question has be asked way more times than I can remember.
Though it's pretty simple, If it looks the same, it'll probably fit.
But one thing most don't know is all the body mounts are in the same places on all of em. Meaning, a 2010 body will bolt up to a 83 chassis.

Just search it. It's all there.

Ok..........

I have built 2 gen 3's (93 & 94) and am workin on 2 more (94 & 95), so I will tell what I have found within these builds, but if you need to know other info, I have the ability to check via Ford catalogin at work:

93-97 fenders, hood, front bumper, grill, headlights, marker lights are a direct swap.
93-94 radiator supports are same and 95-97 are same (2 different PN's)
93-97 doors interchange
93 to 08 beds are direct bolt ons and taillights are interchangeable
92-02 Explorer rearends are direct bolt-in if you want 4" of drop in the rear, if don't want the drop, then you have to weld on new leaf spring perches
92-02 Explorer seats will bolt right in after you swap the Ranger tracks to them, the Explorer seats have the holes made into them for the tracks
93-97 cabs are interchangeable, as are 98 up
82-97 steerin boxes are interchangeable to include the MS boxes
82-94 heater boxes interchange, as does 95-97

I'm sure I'll think of more, but that's all I can think of for now!:icon_confused:

The entire F-series shares that same box too.

quoted from Kunar

Seems every other week somebody is misinformed about the high rider or asking about it in one way or another so here is what i have come up with. my info came from either a ford factory 1987 ranger brochure, an ad from feb 1987's field and stream or from guys here at TRS along with my own experience

High Rider became available in 1987 only on regular cab stx models. "A list of 21 unique components was required to give the STX High Rider it's increased vehicle height and greater handling performance" including a front mounted sway bar, a redesigned rear sway bar, new revalved gas shocks, new leaf springs, revised brake components, front drive shaft and transfer case. 140 Hp 2.9L V6 was standard with this package. (from factory brochure)

All high rider trucks are STX models which includes "special accenting, sporty trim, tinted glass, black foldaway mirrors, black grille and bumpers, and new tape treatment" (from field and stream)

"STX features reclining cloth bucket seatsin the Regular Cab model, or dual cloth Captain's Chairs with individual recliners and power lumbar supports in the SuperCab. The door trim panels are cloth-covered and include carpeted map pockets. The steering wheel is wrapped in genuine leather. Standard sound system is electronic AM/FM stereo with digital clock and four speakers. In STX you also have pivoting front vent windows for added ventilation, a convienent trip odometer, and a tachometer on the instrument cluster to read the pulse of the STX's electronically fuel-injected 2.9 liter V-6 engine." (from factory brochure, also noted on the page that some equipennt may be optional)

STX models came standard with Handling package (included front and rear sway bars), cloth buckets, tach, black rear step bumper, 2.9, tinted glass, etc etc. I have charts that show all available options and all equipment packages i would like to try to scan and make available here. I also have pictures of standard TTB brackets VS High Rider brackets i will post as soon as i can

a 1991-92 2.9 uses the same condenser core as a 1991-94 Explorer
where instead of having both connections on the passenger side of
the condenser, and thus requiring a hose to cross over the fan shroud.
But the later condenser has the high pressure connection on the drivers side.

IF you use that style condenser then when you swap to a 4.0 you only
need to replace the compressor and the manifold line that connects the
compressor into the rest of the system.

Though on the 2.9 condenser these are seperate lines, on the 4.0
it is a one piece manifold that bolts to the compressor.

When yo get the 4.0 lines make sure to get the 1993 style where
the low pressure suction line from the evaporator back to the
compressor crosses the FRONT of the engine the other style that runs
across the back has an extra TWO crimp connections and thus two
extra places to leak.
