Can't really afford to get a new truck so I thought why not put some bigger tires/rims on it. 15 inch really should be the standard. Right now I got
p205/75R14's. I seen 4wd rangers with p235/7015's but the suspension is different.:icon_confused:

Look up at the top of the screen. Click "Tech Library". It will show you tire fitment for your vehicle.

FWIW tho, I ran 265/70/R17s on mine for awhile altho I did need to trim the bumper a little.

technically, you can run a 54 inch tire and still be dot legal. but you will need very deep gears lol

:icon_thumby: i was thinking of that.

i would not go any bigger unless you have 4.10s or ad a turbo.

your stock size tire is a 25 inch tire and a 235 is a 28 inch tire. your speedo will be about 10% slower. to keep with the same diameter tire you will want to run a 205/65/15 inch tire. and that is what i have on my escort

I have a 97 with a 2.3, 2wd, 5 speed. On my door it states that my tire size should be 225/70/14. That is the size I took off and put on these 235/75/15 tires. I don't have any issues. The speedo and odo are off but I just use my GPS for accurate speed.
The truck drives so much nicer with this size tire.

Just put 235/75r15s on my 97 2.3 today, clears them easily, but with new coils and washer coil spacers I have a little more room than stock would. Can't feel any noticeable difference in power either.

Ride quality definitely improved too.

I just put a set of Goodyear Wrangler Radials in 235/75-15 on today, look and ride great, much better than the little 215's that were on there! When my speedo says 45, my GPS says 51, so keep that in mind.

1995 ford ranger xl 2dr, 4cyl with 215/70/14

My ford came with 215 70r 14s on aluminum rims. I noticed many of you put 235 75 15s on this same vehicle.

How did you do this...... Did the 15 inch tire fit on your existing rims?, or
did you buy all new rims and tires

I would appreciate any help.

Johnplayerson:

We procured new rims and then installed appropriate tires.

Ford offers 14s, 15s, and 16s on Rangers over the years, but Escapes, Mustangs, Jeeps, etc all come in the 5 x 4.5 pattern so you can find 17s, 18s, 19s or 20s if you want OEM wheels.* And more if you want aftermarket.

*You have to watch backspacing/be prepared to use spacers with some selections. Most us seem to be frugal, so we purchase "experienced" - my 17s came from someone upgrading their Mustang and wanting a few $$$ back to help cover the cost their new wheels.

I found this once, then lost it when I had to do a hard reboot. The closest thing I see at the top now is “How To Tech.” Can someone help me relocate the Tech Library? Sorry. This makes me feel dumb. :annoyed:

The How To Tech is the tech library, just relabeled. Everything is still there
